Band Bios
Mike Pickney "the Professor" has been performing professionally for over 30 years. The Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame nominee plays guitar, bass and background vocals. The Professor lists the Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, C,S,N, Doobie Bros. and the Ozark Mountain Daredevils as his influences. Mike is also Low Tide's band manager and resides as a high school teacher in Clinton, Iowa with his nine year old daughter Lacy.

Scott Manon started playing classical guitar and singing at the age of 7 years old. At the age of 11, Scott's Grandfather Wayne helped him to get a band formed and started taking the boys out to their shows. (Thank you Grandpa for believing in me!!) Scott played with “The Country Eagles Band” for 29 years, performing mainly in the Midwest. During this time, he went to Nashville and recorded a CD. The music of Jimmy Buffet was introduced to Scott in 1986 when he met his buddy, Boyd. It was at that time that the parrot head frenzy hit home. It’s been there ever since and getting stronger. Scott has been married for 22 years and has 3 boys. He is currently a Paint Division Manager for a company in Eastern Iowa.

Our guitar player is Brent Tinderholt from
Clinton Ia. When he's not performing with Low Tides and Highways you can catch
him with One Brick Shy, a local favorite band he has been involved with for 18
years. Clearly a Fender guy, Brent claims to have been inspired by SRV, Billy Gibbons, The Blues Brothers and "those
scriptures I find inside my fortune
cookies."Although playing for the love of music is his mission statement,
he still fondly recalls at age 15, "lugging my crap up 2 flights of stairs to
play a half hour birthday party for a snotty 12 year old princess...and getting
PAID 5 bucks!! I felt like a king!!" Here he is 30 years later playing, and
paying, tribute to Jimmy
Buffett. "My wife and I raised 6 kids and are enjoying 7 grandkids......I'm not ready to bury my head in the sand yet, but there
is some cosmic peace in a three finger rum and coke, a beach chair , being ankle deep in the
sand and listening to A Pirate Looks at Forty...AAAAHHHH... My own Margaritaville!!!"

Dan Budde has been involved in the music business for 33 years, working as a store manager, keyboard representative and performer. "Bud Man" is a master at replicating other instruments on his keyboard. Dan is married with three children and is a commissioned artist and writer. His influences are many artists in all genres of music and lists Queen as his favorite band.

Chuck "Meat" Soenksen: percussion, drums and vocals. Chuck played drums in a popular rock band in the late 70's and 80's. Soenksen took a long hiatus and introduced the drums to his three sons and a grandson. They have taken the drums to an even higher level. Chuck's influences are rock and blues based, with an interest in the first forms of human communication; vocal and percussive. Meat was introduced to Jimmy Buffett music in the late 1970's and he has been a ParrotHead ever since. "When Mike asked me to come out of semi retirement to play Jimmy's music, I jumped at the chance. Chuck also sings praises in his church choir and lives in Clinton, Ia. with his beautiful wife Sharon. "So grab your favorite beverage and imagine the warm tropical breeze in your face. Let Low Tides and HighWays take you to Margaritaville."

Joe "Mojo" Hlubek wears two hats - successful local photographer by day, harp player by night. His interest in the harmonica grew out of his love of the blues, and now he enjoys playing to any kind of music as long as it involves having a good time. “That’s why I set sail with Low Tides, got to keep your MoJo workin!” When Joe isn’t sailing away to Margaritaville, he enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Gail, and two children, Casey and Jesse and his grandchildren.
